Do you have a beetle in your backyard, local park, bathroom or on your window sill and you want to know what it is?

Are you making a collection and you cannot navigate the various technical identification guides and keys (see Books)?

Were you recently on a trip somewhere exotic and you took a picture of a beetle and you want to know a name to label your slide with?

Well, we can give hints, provide a general identification, perhaps put you in contact with a specialist. We won't identify an entire collection because that is either the responsibility of the student making an insect collection or for a state or national authority if you suspect a potential agricultural pest.

In order to help provide an identification either a good digital photograph or an actual specimen will be needed. You may think you have an adequate descriptive vocabulary, but there are more than 350,000 different beetles in the world!
