Beetle Art

Beetles have long been used in art, sometimes in the background, or in other diminutive ways. Many species are beautifully illustrated at the time of their original scientific 'christening' and many species are illustrated in monographs that document the entirety of a particular genus or group. In the past centuries, many species were illustrated in hand-colored lithographic plates in the scientific journals of the time.
